Italian steel production technology specialist Danieli has been awarded an order for the design and supply of all the equipment for a new cold strip complex capable of producing 600kt/yr of pickled/cold-rolled/ galvanised coil, with a final thickness down to 0.14 mm.
The new plant, owned by Vietnamese steelmaker Hoa Phat Steel Sheet, is to be built in the region of Hanoi and will include a 600kt/yr push-pickling line, two 200kt/yr cold reversing mills and two hot dip galvanising lines (150kt/yr and 350kt/yr).
According to Danieli, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet produces high-quality cold-rolled galvanised products that meet JIS 3321: 2010 (JP), BS-EN 10346: 2009 (EU) Europe, AS 1397: 2001 (AU), and ASTM A792 (US) standards.
Conceived and designed for environmentally-friendly production, the cold complex will incorporate all the latest technology developed by Danieli Wean United and related business units such as Danieli Kohler for the air wiping system, Danieli Centro Combustion for the annealing furnaces and Danieli Automation for all the electrical and automation supply.
Among the most relevant technologies that will be provided, and that are also available on the market as 'Danieli technological packages, are automatic flatness control for cold rolling, X-Jet air wiping system for the best control of zinc coating, Save-Cut for all the cutting and trimming processes, and Q-Surface for improving the shape and elongation of material.
Danieli claims that perfect control of any line will be ensured by Danieli Automation's Hi-PAC system based on IPC solution and Ethercat fieldbus technology.
Key equipment will originate from Danieli workshops in Italy and Asia.
The commissioning of the complex is anticipated by the end of 2017.
